Governor Snyder has made it a priority for local governments to better communicate information about their performance and finances to citizens. The Economic Vitality Incentive Program (EVIP), signed into law in May 2011 specifies that communities must have a Citizen’s Guide and Performance Dashboard available to citizens by October 1, 2011 in order to qualify for EVIP revenue sharing dollars. These documents, as well as our current operating budget, are available below.

Citizens with questions about these documents can contact the City offices by calling (906) 482-1700.

Cooperation, Collaboration and Consolidation Plans

Another aspect of the EVIP programs is for local governments to cooperate and consoliate with each other as much as possible.  The City of Houghton is proud to present this document that shows the ways the City has been cooperating and consolidating with other local governments for many years to save taxpayer's money, increase development, and provide better service.  As the attached document shows, the total tax dollars saved exceeds $23,000,000.
