Governor
Snyder has
made it a
priority for
local
governments
to better
communicate
information
about their
performance
and finances
to citizens.
The Economic
Vitality
Incentive
Program (EVIP),
signed into
law in May
2011
specifies
that
communities
must have a
Citizen’s
Guide and
Performance
Dashboard
available to
citizens by
October 1,
2011 in
order to
qualify for
EVIP revenue
sharing
dollars.

Another aspect of the EVIP programs is for local governments to cooperate
and consoliate with each other as much as possible. The City of Houghton is
proud to present this document that shows the ways the City has been
cooperating and consolidating with other local governments for many years to
save taxpayer's money, increase development, and provide better service. As
the attached document shows, the total tax dollars saved exceeds
$23,000,000.
