AN ORDINANCE, PURSUANT TO CHAPTER 98, ARTICLE 7, DIVISION 6,
OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES, CITY OF HOUGHTON
TO RE-ZONE PROPERTY
THE CITY OF HOUGHTON ORDAINS:
Pursuant to Chapter 98, Article 7, Division 6, the Code of Ordinances, City of Houghton, Michigan and Public Act 110 of 2006, as amended, the following-described property is re-zoned from R-1 (single-family residential) to B-2 (community business) with the condition that the only uses allowed are:
- All principal uses and all uses subject to conditions as regulated in the B-1 District or in any Residential District.
- Restaurants, taverns or other places serving food or beverages.
- Hotels and motels.
Commencing at the South quarter corner of Section 28; then along the line common to said Sections 28 and 33, S88°46’16″E 1191.89 feet to the Northwesterly line of a sixty-six foot (66’) wide easement, also being the POINT OF BEGINNING; then the following four courses along the Westerly and Northerly boundaries of said easement, N32°07’26″E 132.05 feet; Then 102.63 feet along a 91.00 foot radius curve to the right with a delta angle of 64°37’08” and a chord bearing N64°26’00″E 97.28 feet; then S83°15’26″E 125.73 feet; then 26.63 feet along a 213.00 foot radius curve to the right with a delta angle of 07°09’45” and a chord bearing S79°39’29″E 26.61 feet; then N29°57’46″E 191.82 feet to an intermediate traverse line running along the shore of Portage Lake; then the following twelve courses along said traverse line, N87°04’41″E 277.87 feet; then S00°21’45″W 329.22 feet; then S31°20’26″E 134.11 feet; then S15°37’39″E 391.94 feet; then S68°34’24″E 509.19 feet; then S60°06’25″E 271.46 feet; then S45°50’44″E 156.67 feet; then S63°36’53″E 102.46 feet; then S68°25’47″E 166.86 feet; then S74°55’21″E 268.85 feet; then S81°29’14″E 297.17 feet; then S18°29’01″W 135.50 feet to the Northerly right-of-way line of Canal Road (P-554); then the following four courses along said Northerly right-of-way line, N71°17’35″W 618.45 feet; then N65°46’19″W 1084.02 feet; then 605.40 feet along a 1717.00 foot radius curve to the right with a delta angle of 20°12”07’ and a chord being N55°39’42″W 602.26 feet; then N45°33’39″W 598.55 feet to said Northwesterly line of a sixty-six foot (66’) wide easement; then along said Northwesterly line, N32°07’26″E 23.22 feet to the POINT OF BEGINNING, containing 15.5 acres, more or less. The above tract extends to the shoreline of Portage Lake and contains all applicable riparian rights.
The Houghton City Zoning Map, as amended to reflect such re-zoning, is attached hereto as an Exhibit.
The public hearing is a chance for the planning commission to receive public comments on this proposed ordinance.
