The City of Houghton is seeking community members to participate in two-day Charrette Ready Workshop taking place June 29th and 30th in the Dee Stadium Ballroom. The sessions will be scheduled during the day. Social distancing will be followed and masks will be required.
The workshop will include members of the public, city council, planning commission, and city administration. The workshop will be facilitated by the National Charrette Institute and Michigan State University Extension. The intent of the workshop is to prepare for public participation to revise the city’s downtown plan. The workshop is intended to create the outline for a future charrette so a request for proposals can be made to firms to facilitate that future charrette.
Interested persons should meet at least one of these criteria:
- A resident of the downtown
- An employee of a downtown business
- A downtown business owner
- A downtown property owner
- A resident of the city at large
Interested persons can apply to be a participant by completing an application and submitting it to the city clerk by Thursday, May 20, 2021. The council will choose a total of four public participants for the workshop at their meeting on Wednesday, May 26, 2021.
