Boating & Docks

Houghton’s waterfront provides an incredible opportunity for boaters. With docking and launching facilities available, local day-use boaters, fishermen, and Lake Superior cruisers can spend a day on the water or tie up for an extended stop.

The boat launch west of the lift bridge requires a small fee that can be paid at the kiosk located near the launch.

$5 per launch or $40 per season.

The City maintains a free parking lot for boat trailers which is located under the lift bridge. There are several fishing piers along the waterfront for those who prefer to fish from shore.

A seasonal kayak/SUP launch is located in Bridgeview Park from May to October.

Transient cruisers and day-use boaters are welcome to use any broadside mooring along the waterfront.  Most mooring provides no amenities.  However, the new Pier provides electrical service so the cost is slightly more. Overnight transient boater payment is requested at the kiosks located near the docks.
