Down Wind Sports has been Houghton\\’s specialty retailer for silent outdoor sports since 1976.
In the summer we stock a variety of equipment for kayaking, biking, camping, rock climbing, stand up paddle boarding, trail running, and canoeing.
In the winter the store changes with the season to offer equipment for cross country skiing, downhill skiing, telemark skiing, snowshoeing, fat biking, and ice climbing.
Of course, a wide selection of outdoor clothing is available to fit your favorite activities and whatever weather conditions the season has to offer us.
We also operate a full service bike and ski shop, with friendly technicians who are ready to take on any of your repair needs.
Rental cross country skis and snowshoes are available in the winter.
Down Wind Sports Houghton is also the home of Second Wind Sports, a consignment shop for gently used outdoor equipment, which is located in the basement.
