CITY OF HOUGHTON PLANNING COMMISSION
PROPOSED ORDINANCE AMENDMENT
THE CITY OF HOUGHTON PLANNING COMMISSION WILL HOLD A PUBLIC HEARING AT 5:30 p.m. TUESDAY, August 25, 2026, AT THE CITY CENTER, 616 SHELDEN AVENUE, HOUGHTON, MICIHGAN 49931.
Proposed Ordinance 2026-350: The proposed ordinance amends Chapter 98, Article 6, DIVISION 1 – SITE PLAN REVIEW to simplify the requirements for site plan review documents by creating different levels of site plan review required, placing repetitive information in tables, and creating a new review category for “preliminary site plans” which may be used to receive official planning commission input and preliminary approval prior to completion of a detailed plan. Changes may be made to this proposed ordinance following public comment received at the public hearing held on August 25th.
The public hearing is a chance for the planning commission to receive public comments on this proposed ordinance. Proposed Ordinance 2026-351: The proposed ordinance amends Chapter 98, Article 3, DIVISION 6 – STORM WATER MANAGEMENT to update methodology and design criteria; and clarify the requirements for stormwater management activities required for development projects as part of site plan review. Changes may be made to this proposed ordinance following public comment received at the public hearing held on August 25th.
