TO CONDITIONALLY RE-ZONE THE PROPERTY
THE CITY OF HOUGHTON ORDAINS:
Pursuant to Chapter 98, Section 4, (98-4), the Code of Ordinances, City of Houghton, Michigan and Public Act 110 of 2006, as amended, the following-described property is re-zoned from RSV (reserve) to R-3 (multiple-family residential district) with conditions:
A parcel of land situated in part of Block 3 of the Supervisorโs Plat of East Houghton, according to the plat recorded in Liber 2 of Plats, Page 32 of Houghton County Records, City of Houghton, Houghton County, Michigan, described as follows:

- The following uses, although otherwise permitted under R-3 zoning, shall not be permitted on this property:
- Any use permitted only with a Special Land Use Permit under Article 6, Division 2, and subject to the standards in Article 4, including:
- Home-based businesses
- General hospitals
- Convalescent homes and orphanages
- Motels
- Medical clinics and professional offices
- Lodge halls and fraternal assembly buildings
- Mortuaries and funeral homes

This Ordinance was enacted by the City Council of the City of Houghton, Houghton County, Michigan on the __ day of _____ 2026.ย This Ordinance shall take effect 10 days from the date of adoption.ย Effective the ___ day of ________ 2026.

The Houghton City Council will hold Public Hearings on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at 5:30 p.m. in the City Council Chambers, City Center, 616 Shelden Avenue, Houghton, on the proposed budget for the 2026/2027 fiscal year which runs from 7/1/2026 through 6/30/2027.
The proposed millage for the 2026/2027 budget is 15.0 mills.ย The property tax millage proposed to be levied to support the proposed budget will be a subject of this hearing.
ย Following the Public Hearing on the budget, the City Council will hold a Public Hearing on the Capital Improvement Plan, which will be followed by the Regular Meeting of the Houghton City Council.ย During the Regular Meeting, the City Council will act on the 2026/2027 Budget, and the Capital Improvement Plan. Copies of the proposed 2026/2027 Budget and Capital Improvement Plan are available from the City Offices Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and on our website cityofhoughton.com.
